Our MRI

The Siemens Espree 1.5T Open Bore MRI

MRI, or Magnetic Resonance Imaging, is a technique most commonly used in radiology to visualize the detailed structure and function of the body. An MRI provides much greater contrast between the different soft tissues of the body than a CT scan does, making it especially useful in neurological (brain), musculoskeletal, breast and cardiovascular imaging. Unlike a CT, it uses no ionizing radiation, but rather a powerful magnetic field to align the magnetization of hydrogen atoms in water inside the body.

Most medical associations recommend MRI when choosing between an MRI and a CT because of less exposure to ionizing radiation.

Is a stress-free MRI possible?

At our facility, we believe that the patient’s comfort comes first. The MRI procedure is non-invasive and painless. The exam lasts, on average, 30 minutes.

The biggest problem patients face when it comes to MRI is not the process itself but the fears associated with it. The traditional MRI machine is a long tube-like tunnel in which the patient is placed. Due to the feeling of confinement, many patients find the exam process quite stressful and experience some degree of discomfort or anxiety. Another concern associated with MRI is that of waiting. It is hard not to worry while being still on a motorized bed, listening to the different sounds being made by the machine. However, we introduce low-stress hospital grade MRI technology for your peace of mind. With the latest advancements, the patient MRI experience has improved tremendously. It is now possible to experience comfort and openness in MRI.

Our new head-out, feet-out MRI design

IRM Sud Ouest; is proud to present its new patient-friendly design: The cutting edge Siemens Espree 1.5 Open Bore MRI Our hospital grade MRI is much more spacious than traditional systems. The head-out, feet-out design lets patients feel more in control. This reduces fear and anxiety for those suffering from claustrophobia or the uncomfortable feeling of being enclosed. One foot of headroom means you no longer feel like you are nose to nose with the top of the magnet. The spaciousness also allows for larger patients to fit comfortably. It can accommodate people of all ages and weight groups, from children 9 and up to a maximum of 450 lbs.

Our MRI can accommodate patients up to 450 lbs and kids 9 years and up!

Our open bore MRI is 70 cm + 70 cm + 1.5T a combination never seen before in MRI. Our MRI is fully integrated with the Total Imaging Matrix, which is one of its kind and the very first mosaic surface coil design for the whole body. It makes it possible for the patients to get high-resolution images with the best possible medical detail in a very short time. Simply put, an ordinary MRI scanner produces mediocre medical images with barely adequate details within a 15-minute MRI session.

The high power of our Montreal MRI machine delivers the most advanced images with superior details of the affected organs within a shorter time period. When you get the highest resolution medical images faster why go anywhere else? Siemens MAGNETOM Espree combines Open Bore MRI with TIM (Total Imaging Matrix) technology. TIM is the first whole-body mosaic surface coil design that enables the highest resolution images in shorter acquisition time.
